A Strange Kind of Dream

I had a dream last night that my ego was speaking with my ex-wife’s ego.. and it was an interesting conversation. She looked lean and in shape, the way her ego probably thinks she ought to look. One of the last things my ex-wife said to me after she left our marital residence, in a text message to my phone, was “I’m getting back in shape and working out a lot, I’m happier than ever with my new boyfriend.”

In the dream, I was taking care of business, fixing things for people and just enjoying myself as usual. I spoke with her briefly and we talked about how things changed between us and that she and her boyfriend broke up and we cried and hugged, and I remember feeling sad for her that her love life didn’t turn out as she had expected it to… and why would it, she left me for someone that had left her for someone else and she had romanticized it into some kind of destiny thing for each other. The fact is that we were never on the same page with each other, and she was always looking for the next big thing to boost her ego. So I pitied her, because it was all I could do.

Well, when I saw her in court at 25 Delaware, she looked BIG… not just her usual big like she was when she left, but she looked like she gained another ten pounds back… maybe twenty. And she didn’t look happy. She looked everything but happy, she looked sad and solemn. And I couldn’t figure out why she acted like she was trying to reach out to me, until I was on Plentyoffish.com last week and saw a posting from her online with profile pictures that I know she took at her parents, and possibly elsewhere. The pictures weren’t elegant, they were slutty and she was trying to show off her usual “come hither” look that she usually gave me when she wanted something her way.

I’ve realized that Jamee really doesn’t want true love, all she really wants out of her life is to not be alone. She will do just about anything to not be alone, because her relationships feed her ego. I have also realized that during our marriage, when she was getting down on herself about her weight and saw that I was starting to lose weight and take better care of myself, that it affected her ego. She needs someone to dote on her and stroke her ego, and that is where her ex-boyfriend, Chris came into play. He fed her ego and made her feel special again.

Did I take her for granted during our marriage? I don’t know, maybe I couldn’t see what was really going on with her, because she refused to talk to me, she’d already estranged me in the last year of our marriage and the lines of communication had broken down so much that they were irreparable. I think my ego also suffered a lot during our marriage and maybe that’s why I stopped reaching out to her as well. She became a transactional relationship, that I supported financially to reach her objectives, and when I was not in a position to do so, she became embittered with me and resented me for it. Our marriage might have survived if she’d opened up to me and stopped demanding so much, and taken responsibility for her own ends instead of relying on me to fix it. It turned our love into hatred for each other. I can still only pity her, because she hasn’t changed for the better, she’s only completed her schoolwork with my assistance, and now she’s moving on to chase the next big thing again.

She’s a user, a gold-digger, and I wish that I’d been aware of that before we’d gotten married, so that I wouldn’t have exhausted myself and my resources trying to fill that void in her life. Many of my friends warned me about her, but I didn’t see it at the time. I did what I thought was right and paid the price for my gullibility.

Whenever I hear a group of women talking loudly, they seem to be talking about their men and how their men don’t pay attention to things.

For example, a woman might get mad at her husband for forgetting the date that they first met, or the time their child was born, or perhaps the color of the blouse she wore last week. Their man is not stupid, it’s just that he’s not paying attention to those things at the moment in time.

When you’re in love, the dates and times don’t seem as precious as the seconds you spend together. You don’t think as much about the past when you’re focusing on the moments together.

If men and women understood that and recognized that the moments you cherish are far more important than the details, men and women would have much better relations.

Looking back on marriage.

If I had known that marriage was going to put my life into such a dangerous position, I’d have never done it. Jamee caused me so much trouble by wanting to spend money we didn’t have on frivolous things, move into an apartment that was expensive, and then leaving me high and dry for another man. All I ever heard from her during the marriage was how bad life was for her, and all I hear from her now is how good her life is. She’s basically made me out to be a scapegoat for her inadequacies. There are times when I wish justice would put her in her place and karma comes back at her. I hate my life. I don’t want a roommate, I am sick of eviction notices, being distant from my friends and family. I am tired of being poor all the time. Most of all, I hate Jamee for leaving me in such an awkward position… I never deserved this from her and her family.

I was watching a show earlier this week about “financial infidelity” where one spouse was controlling all the assets in the marriage. I feel that if your spouse takes your paycheck and puts it in the bank account with theirs to pay the bills, but takes out credit cards and store cards in their name and doesn’t allow you access to those accounts… even though you have to field the calls from the creditors when they call collecting… that your spouse is being unfaithful to you in treating you as you are fiscally responsible with the family’s financial situation.

Unless you’ve agreed that you each own separate accounts with creditors, but work together to pay the bills, saying that you’re working “together financially for the good of the family” and that “what’s mine is yours and what’s yours is mine” is an outright lie. I think most couples are guilty of this, and it seems to be what couples argue about the most but turn a blind eye to this issue that troubles the marriage the most.. more than any other problem.

My wife and I work well together to resolve our differences and problems in our marriage – we try not to accuse the other of not making the effort or not being understanding enough, or not contributing equally to the marriage. But when it comes to money, we always seem to lock horns over the dollars coming in and going out. Chalk it up to being born under a bad sign of the chinese horoscope saying that your being a pig and her being a dragon means that you will always be fighting over money, or you can attribute it to the bear economy, but one thing is for certain, is that you and your partner need to be on the same page when it comes to money matters and how it affects your marriage.

How does everyone else deal with this issue in your relationship and how do you make peace with your spouse when the bills are on the kitchen table?

Apparrantly, this isn’t the first time that people have eaten Turkey Testicles… I’ve heard of Bulls Testicles being a delicacy in spme parts of the world.. but a TURKEY? I started wondering if they were any good.

HUNTLEY, Ill., Nov. 26, 2010 (UPI) — Organizers of the 28th annual Turkey Testicle Festival in Illinois said more than 1,000 pounds of fowl genitals were served to a crowd of about 4,000 people.

The Parkside Pub in Huntley said Wednesday’s event featured regulars and first-timers sampling turkey testicles that had been breaded, deep fried and served in cups, The (Crystal Lake) Northwest Herald reported Friday.

Jeff Lovell, owner of Parkside Pub, said many are drawn to the event by the unique taste of the dish.

“The smaller ones are more flavorful,” he said. “Most people compare it to chicken or mushrooms. And really, anything breaded and deep fried can’t be too bad.”

So, they sound pretty tasty… But they actually have FESTIVALS for this? I love the “Anything breaded and deep fried is tasty” argument… these are the same people that are deep frying Twinkies and Oreos and would be deep frying their cat’s droppings if their parents didn’t scold them for playing in their diapers when they were babies. These festivals are popping up all over the country though- it was only a matter of time before they came to Buffalo.

Although a little tamer that the Testicle Festival in Bozeman, MT, the annual Turkey Testicle Festival has been around longer. Since 1979, folks have been trotting to Byron every October to suck down some serious nuts, 275 pounds worth of turkey testicles. What you may not know is that theirs hang under the left wing rather than between the hind legs.

How big are they? Human-size for the most part, but like real men, some balls are bigger than others are. Sponsored by the Union Street Station, a local bar, $3 gets you plenty to eat, plus lots of beer and bathroom humor.

So, I guess this is a big deal around the country, and it’s starting to catch on.

It seems like every community nowadays is having some sort of testicle festival… but perhaps you want to make them at home and don’t know how to go about doing it? Here’s a quick recipe for Bull Fries.

RECIPE: Rocky Mountain Oysters
(Montana Tendergroin)
Serves: 4 people
Prep Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour 40 minutes
Ingredients
2 pounds bull testicles (or lamb/sheep;calf;or turkey testicles)
1 cup flour
1/4 cup cornmeal
1 cup red wine
salt
pepper
garlic powder to taste
Louisiana Hot Sauce
hog lard (or cooking oil)
tbsp vinegar
Instructions
Using a sharp knife, split the tough skin-like muscle that that is around each “oyster”. One trick is to freeze the testicles and then when they are thawing, complete this task. You may want to watch one of the demonstration videos on youtube to see how best to get this done.

Place the testicles in pan of salt water – just enough to cover them. Let this set for an hour or so (to remove some of the blood).

Drain them off and move ‘em to a big pot. Add enough water that they can float, along with the vinegar. Parboil. Drain and rinse them off, then set to cool.

Slice each “oyster” into 1/4 inch thick pieces and salt and pepper both sides to taste (but don’t taste just yet).

Mix up the flour, cornmeal and garlic powder in a bowl. Dip a slice in milk, and then into the dry mixture. Then quickly dip into wine. Do this quickly so you don’t loose the coating that is already on it. If you want a thicker crust, repeat these steps. Do this for each slice.

Immediately place the little suckers into hot cooking oil, and then add the Louisiana Hot Sauce directly onto the oil.

Cook until they’re golden brown or tender. Don’t overcook them or they’ll get tough. I like to set them on a plate with a paper towel under them to absorb some of the unneeded oil for a moment until serving. Yummy!

Take one pound of Chicken and one pound of Spare Ribs and place next to each other in a 6 quart cassarole pan or baking dish. Preheat oven to 350 degrees for ten minutes. Salt chicken and ribs lightly. Boil 4 qt water in 6 quart saucepan and add 6 potatoes. Put chicken and ribs in oven for 60 minutes. after one hour, pull cassarole dish from oven and turn over chicken, drain excess liquid, brush Sweet Baby Ray’s Chipotle Raspberry BBQ sauce on meat and place cassarole dish back into oven for 20 minutes, increase temperature to 450 degrees. Drain water from potatoes and mash potatoes down with wooden spoon. Add 3 TB butter and 1/4 cup of skim milk to potatoes and whip 100 times until the potatoes fall apart in the pan and become pasty. Add 1/4 cup sour cream, 1 Tb chives, 1 t. salt and pepper to potatoes, top with more butter. Pull Chicken and Ribs from Oven and apply final coating of Sweet Baby Ray’s Sauce to Ribs, turn over chicken and apply sauce to chicken, put back in oven for ten minutes and reduce heat to 300 degrees. Take Chicken and Ribs out of oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes, serve with Mashed Potatoes and corn niblets on the side.
